Battle Against The 10 Fanged Beast (Triathlon Training Day 73)

January 25, 2016

Before the dawn of the sunrise, our small squadron of warriors enter the cavern of Mordang, in the land of Elevatoo, home of La-Neven the ten-fanged fury. Our preparation for this fight has spanned many months in which we defeated many smaller Blue Demons. What we met today was nothing like we had ever experienced before. Our group enters the dwelling of the beast one at a time through the small opening just large enough for us and our mounts. Today our indefatigable leader, Samuel the Bold, is not with us. He was injured in a legendary battle a fortnight prior. Today’s warriors consist of Harold the Stout, and his young squire Mitchell, Daniel the archer, Matthew the Wise, The Elven Queen and myself.

I step into the cavern with my trusty steed by my side only to be met with a severe encumbrance. The Ballast Ring that I was gifted from Alan the Great, Lord of SBR, snapped from the pressure of the mystical tools held within this monstrosities realm. The uncertainty of fighting such a creature without the stabilizing force of the Ballast Ring instantly puts doubt in my mind and I quietly call out to my fellow warriors, “I mustn’t go on. I can not enter battle without the powers of the Ballast Ring.”  I hear the call to search the cave for something to restore the ring but, to no avail.

I look around at my fellow champions and determine I must not leave them to fight alone. I mount my steed in spite of this handicap and and we prepare for the fight. Upon Matthew the Wise’s call, we race headlong into the heart of the cave to be met by the ferocious mouth of this venomous monster. The beast bares his fangs and chomps forward trying to devour us. We dodge the thrusting fangs once without incident. The beast pulls back for another strike which gives us time to regroup. Another colossal thrust and we are not so lucky. The youngest of our team, Mitchell, has gone down. Matthew the Wise leaps to his rescue trying to position him near the back of our small assemblage of soldiers.

The beast continues to strike at our vigilant band without ceasing. A third, fourth, and fifth strike and young Mitchell is still not in the fight. I dismount and try to help Matthew the wise in his efforts to restore the young Mitchell to service. We are thwarted in our attempts at every turn. When I think all hope is lost, Matthew the Wise, casts an enchantment which renders the behemoth temporarily motionless. This allows the youthful Mitchell to regain a place in the fight. The beast frees itself and the conflict continues. Lunge and thrust, the battle undulates back and forth with each massive bite. Fangs baring, the beast continues to attack. The sweltering heat has blinded us in our own sweat. The beast is relentless. With each strike the effort to defend ourselves increases. Suddenly something mythical happens. I turn and see the Eleven queen call upon the 5th power of the Kilowaggs. Never before in our motley band of warriors has this power been summoned. With renewed energy the group collectively unsheathes the 100 year old Swords of Maximilian, Lord of VOTWO and slay the dragon just as it strikes for the tenth and final time. The demise of the beast causes his enormous body to crash through the cave wall plummeting us to the valley below. Miraculously none of us are scathed and we ride across the valley and then atop the mountains to our castle homes.

We live to fight another day.
